Ages 5 to 12
Kids' classes
Merengue, bachata and a little salsa for ages 5 to 12, taught with games, partners and a circle.
Kids learn the steps by moving: counting in Spanish and in English, changing partners every few minutes and dancing a whole song at the end. Nobody has to dance alone. A parent or guardian of each child ages 5 to 8 stays in the building for the first weeks.

What a class is like
- 01
Step 1: Warm-up circle
Everyone says hello, shakes out their arms and legs and hears what the step of the day is.
- 02
Step 2: The step of the day
The teacher counts the basic step aloud in Spanish and in English, then everyone tries it on the spot and across the floor.
- 03
Step 3: Partner game
Partners change every few minutes, so every dancer tries the step with someone new.
- 04
Step 4: Dance the song
One song, all together, and a slow cool-down to end.
What to wear and bring
Clothes that move
Leggings, shorts or a skirt with a comfortable top, and hair away from the face.
Shoes that stay
Sneakers or smooth-soled shoes that stay in the studio. Socks are fine for the first weeks.
Water and a grown-up
A water bottle with a closing lid, and a grown-up to collect, named at the door.
